During #BlackHistoryMonth, we want to spotlight current leaders making a change, today.
Steve Neal has been a long-time community leader in the Los Angeles area. Dedicating his career as an advocate in the labor, nonprofit, healthcare, clergy and public office work sectors, he has long been recognized as a servant leader for his ability to work with diverse groups of people. Neal has led numerous efforts to improve wages, healthcare, education and training programs for working families.
As a Long Beach City Council member, he had focused on economic and social issues affecting families and neighborhoods. During his term, he had an accomplished record of supporting neighborhoods, small businesses, and working families. Today, his volunteer commitment consists of serving as a board member for The Guidance Center, Success in Challenges, Economic Policy and Impact Center (EPIC) and Ronnie’ House.
He currently serves as President of the Long Beach Board of Harbor Commissioners, the Board responsible for setting policy for the Port of Long Beach and overseeing the staff of the City’s Harbor Department.
